Pick up and Drop off points & Times

There are no dedicated pick up points for flight tours. You will have to meet a Star Tours representative directly at the airport.

With its hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, Italy experiences a Mediterranean climate. Winters in Italy are cool and humid in the north and the mountainous zone. Sometimes cold air from northern Europe can spread south into Italy. Bring snow to most mountains, while the coasts are kept warm by the high sea temperatures. Storms like the Mistral can bring snow and gales, sometimes even in southern districts of Italy.

The summer can be quite hot in Italy, mainly in the south of the peninsula, with high nocturnal temperatures of usually 28-33°C, but sometimes even 40°C. Thunderstorms are quite common especially in the northern areas. The Mediterranean climate in Italy has often local variations. Surrounded by warm seas and with mountains close by, the coast always has a breeze; mountain areas are usually cooler with clear sunny skies, but sometimes local showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon. Hot air rising from the sea can cause heavy thunderstorms especially in early autumn, but these bring often the only summer rain that rapidly evaporates. In spring and fall, the Sirocco, a warm wind from Africa, raises the temperature of the peninsula. In The summer these Winds can bring very hot, unpleasant weather, sometimes even up to the northern districts of Italy.

Baggage allowance will normally be 20kg – this will be dependent on the airline you are travelling with. Please ensure you adhere to current aviation regulations. Please remember that passengers’ will have to carry their luggage to and from the coach to the hotel room.

Clothing & Accessories

Light T-shirts and cotton clothes are recommended for the summer, while warmer clothes are necessary for the winter.

Passengers should also carry travel adapters so they can charge their electronic items in their hotel room (as the sockets in Europe and elsewhere vary from those in the UK). Passengers may also want to carry a small travel iron, hair dryer, kettle etc, as many hotel rooms will not have these facilities.

Your mobile phone may be able to receive calls whilst on holiday, you can check with your network operator to switch on the roaming feature of your mobile, there is usually an additional charge to receive incoming calls whilst aboard.

In Italy the currency you will require will be Euros. Star Tours’ advices passengers to exchange any spending money for their holiday before they actually travel. Whilst on tour it is very inconvenient and not all places we will be visiting will have ATM machines or accept credit/debit cards.

It is the passengers’ responsibility to make sure of necessary arrangements for any children in their group. Milk and baby food cannot be provided by the hotel or restaurants and passengers are advised to carry ready to drink milk whilst on tour. Dry food is allowed on the so please feel free to bring snacks for children.

Please also note that not all hotels provide a kettle so if hot water is required for warming milk etc in the hotel then it is advisable to carry a bottle warmer / kettle. Pushchairs can be kept in the baggage lockers of the coach.

Please note that all seats on the coach are the same, and have the same level of comfort, do not be disappointed if your seats are near the back of the coach. Your holiday experience will not be ruined due to this.

Distances & Journeys

As this is a flight tour there will not be many long journeys. The journey from Rome to Capri is around 3.5 hours. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes as there will be considerable amounts of walking involved as narrow roads do not allow coaches to enter most of the cities. It is advisable passengers carry necessities that they may need for each day such as water, dry snacks, cameras etc. with them in their hand luggage.
