Preparing for your tour

Star Tours advises passengers to exchange any spending money for their holiday before they travel. Whilst on tour it is very inconvenient and often not possible. Also not all places of interest passengers will be visiting will have ATM machines or accept credit/debit cards.

We recommend that as a minimum, passengers should carry the equivalent of £20 pounds in local currency per person per day for personal expenses.

We highly recommend all our passengers to get travel insurance that is suitable for the type of tour they are conducting.

You are also entitled to carry one piece of hand luggage, which can fit under your seat or in the overhead compartment. It is advisable for one passenger to carry a small handbag/backpack between the group in which they can carry essentials like water, tissues, cameras etc.

It is advisable passengers carry necessities that they may need for the day such as water, dry snacks, cameras etc. with them in their handbags. Also on the first and last day passengers need to carry their passports in their Bag Pack as passports will be needed for immigration.

Star Tours operates a luggage handling service under which the driver will load and unload one piece of luggage per person from the coach (weighing up to a maximum of 23KG, and not exceeding dimensions of 90 x 75 x 43cm / 35.5 x 29.5 x 16ins). It will be the passenger's responsibility to carry their luggage to and from the coach as well as their hotel room. In addition, they are also entitled to carry one piece of Bag Pack (weighing up to a maximum of 5kg, and not exceeding dimensions of 20 x 20 x 48 cm), which can fit under their seat or in the overhead compartment.

Any luggage placed in the lockers can only be accessed at the Hotel/final point. If you check in extra baggage, or baggage beyond the limits outlined here an additional fee of £10 per bag per day will apply (subject to availability). All baggage is placed at the owner's risk, and Star Tours or its partners accepts no liability for loss or damage to bags howsoever caused.

For those embarking on a Swiss Express tour, it's advisable to pack your toothbrush and crucial toiletries in your backpack since your morning freshen-up will take place at service stops before a day of sightseeing. You won't check into the hotel until the evening of the following day, so having personal care items readily accessible is recommended.

Yes, you will need a European adaptor to charge your electrical devices in Europe. If you are traveling to other destinations, please consult our sales team to determine the specific adaptor you need.

Most hotels may offer Wi-Fi free of charge. However, please note that not all hotels provide free Wi-Fi.

You can make phone calls from your hotel room, but please be aware that the charges for this service can be quite high. Alternatively, you can use your mobile phone while on holiday, but it's essential to check with your network operator to activate the roaming feature on your mobile.

While meals are included on the tour, many travelers like to bring snacks such as crisps, biscuits, Indian savoury snacks, and drinks. It's also a good idea to carry bottled water with you, as tap water is generally safe to drink in most Western European countries, except for Italy. Please note that there are certain food items that the coach companies do not allow on board, including ice cream, burgers, fries, pizzas, and other hot items. Your tour manager will provide you with more details regarding these restrictions.

During the summer months, it's best to wear lightweight clothing, and it's a good idea to have a light jacket or sweater and an umbrella on hand. For tours that involve a lot of walking, like those in Italy or tours that include Disneyland, please bring comfortable walking shoes, such as trainers. If your tour includes excursions to mountain tops like Mt. Titlis or Mt. Jungfrau, opt for closed shoes with good grip rather than sandals. Additionally, carry a light jacket or jumper to stay warm while visiting the mountains.

Sandals can be brought along to wear in the evenings, but it's not recommended to wear them when visiting the mountains. Please ensure they are comfortable for walking.

Yes, it's a good idea to pack your swimsuit as some of our hotels may have swimming pools. However, please keep in mind that our busy itinerary may not always allow time for you to use this facility.

Yes, all our hotels provide towels and bed linen for your convenience and comfort during your stay.

While some hotels might provide toothpaste and shampoo, it is not a universal practice at all establishments. Therefore, we recommend bringing your own toiletries to ensure that you have all your essentials during your stay.
