TURKEY
Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the
northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast;
Armenia, Iran and the Azerbaijani; Iraq and Syria to the
southeast. The Mediterranean Sea is to the south; the Aegean
Sea to the west; and the Black Sea to the north. The Sea of
Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles (which together form
the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and
Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia. Turkey's location
at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of
significant importance.
Currency
The local currency is the Turkish Lira (TRY) Turkish Lira
banknotes exist in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100.
ATMs accept foreign debit and credit cards including Switch,
Maestro and Cirrus, and can be found throughout the Turkey, in
shopping malls, hotels and petrol stations.
Additional Excursions
We design our itineraries so that all the necessary
excursions and places of interest are included to give the
passenger the best possible holiday at an affordable price.
However, often, the tour representative or local ground
operator will offer passengers additional excursions that are
designed to enhance the holiday experience and are not included
in the tour cost.
Food
Turkish food is among the best in the world and is sometimes
ranked alongside French and Chinese as one of the world's three
great cuisines.
The breakfast is usually in a separate dining area of the
hotel, and is usually an extended continental breakfast, so it
will include tea, coffee, breads, cereals, fruit, etc.
Lunches and dinners often consist of fried vegetables such
as eggplant (aubergine) and peppers or potatoes served with
yogurt and tomato sauce. Meneman and cilbir are typical summer
dishes, based on eggs.
