Currency
Both Japan and South Korea are largely cash-based societies. While larger stores, hotels and businesses serving tourists often accept credit cards, many cafés, bars, grocery stores and smaller inns do not. Where cards are accepted, there may be a minimum spend or an additional surcharge. USD, GBP and travellers cheques are not widely accepted in either country.
Additional Excursions
Our itineraries are designed to include all the key excursions and places of interest to ensure passengers enjoy a complete holiday at an affordable price. In some cases, the tour representative or local ground operator may offer additional excursions. These are optional, not included in the tour cost, and are intended to enhance the holiday experience.
Hotels
Not all hotels on this tour will have air-conditioning, so it is advisable to carry a small portable fan, especially during the summer months. Please also note that not all hotels provide a kettle. If hot water is required for warming milk or similar purposes, it is best to bring a bottle warmer or travel kettle, along with a thermos flask. Passengers may also wish to carry small items such as a travel iron or hairdryer, as many hotel rooms may not provide these facilities.
Some hotels in Japan will configure a double occupancy room with two single beds placed together. This allows flexibility for the hotel to use the room for different purposes, and passengers should be prepared for this arrangement.
Any additional services used in the hotel, such as phone calls, mini-bar, or pay TV, must be settled directly with the hotel at the time of check-out, as these are not included in the tour cost.
The maximum occupancy per room on this tour is three persons.
Meals
Breakfast will be provided at the hotels, usually in a separate dining area. This is typically a continental breakfast and may include tea, coffee, bread, cereals, fruit and yoghurt.
Passengers can choose from vegetarian or non-vegetarian meals. Please note that Jain or Halal options will not always be available. Meals are served as a pre-set buffet, and individual menu choices are not offered. Meals are provided with tap water only.
Dinners are usually provided within the hotel or at a local restaurant in a separate dining area. If you are unsure about the ingredients in any dish, please consult your tour representative.
Pick up and Drop off points & Times
Passengers travelling on flights arranged by Star Tours should arrive at the airport at the allocated time. If you are arranging your own flights, you will need to meet the tour representative directly at the arrival terminal at the destination.
An ATOL certificate will be sent to you if your flights are booked with Star Tours.
Passengers must follow airline protocols for flights, including baggage rules, check-in, and security procedures. Always check the information boards at the airport for flight delays, gate changes, or other updates from the airline.
The pick-up point will be Narita International Airport only. No other pick-up points are available, and passengers must travel directly to the hotel.
The drop-off point will be Kansai International Airport only.
South Korea Extension
If taking the South Korea extension, you will need to book your
flight from Osaka Kansai Airport to Incheon International
Airport (ICN).
Airport Transfers
Transfers between the airport and hotel are included only from
Narita International Airport on arrival and to Kansai
International Airport on departure. Passengers arriving or
departing from any other airports will need to make their own
arrangements to join or leave the tour.
For the South Korea extension, passengers must arrange their own flight from Osaka Kansai Airport to Incheon International Airport (ICN). Transfers in South Korea will be provided from Incheon International Airport only.

Indian nationals must obtain a visa before travelling to Japan. All other passport holders should confirm requirements directly with the Japanese embassy.
For South Korea, British Citizens, Americans and Canadians can also visit for up to 90 days without a visa, but they must apply online for a Korea Electronic Travel Authorisation (K-ETA) before travel. Weather
Weather Japan
Japan has four distinct seasons. Winters are dry and cold with
snow in the north. Spring is mild and famous for cherry
blossoms. Summers are hot, humid and start with a rainy season
in June. Autumn is cooler with clear days and colourful
foliage, though early typhoons may affect travel.
Weather South
Korea
South Korea also has four seasons. Winters are cold
and dry with snow common in the north. Spring is mild with
cherry blossoms. Summers are hot, humid and rainy from June to
August. Autumn is cool and clear with colourful leaves, making
it another popular time to visit.
Other Advisories
Wheelchairs
We will accept lightweight manual wheelchair for travel, subject to them being capable of being stowed in the luggage hold of the vehicle. It is also essential that a family member is also on tour to push the wheelchair. Star Tours will also request hotels for suitably equipped rooms; however, this is only on a request basis and cannot be guaranteed.
For us to request a wheelchair for you with the airline, this request should be made to us in writing at the time of booking. The allocation of the wheelchair will be at the discretion of the airline/airport.
Health & Safety
Passports
In Japan you must carry your passport at all times.
Police can carry out random checks, and if you cannot show it
you may be detained until someone brings it. First-time
offenders are often let off with a warning, but fines of up to
¥200,000 are possible.
High Altitude
Travel to high altitudes is generally safe if you are healthy. Older travellers, those with controlled blood pressure, asthma, or epilepsy usually manage without difficulty. Pregnant women should take caution above 2,5003,000 metres and consult a doctor before travelling.
Infants and young children can visit high altitudes but may struggle with ear irritation during descent. Drinking or sucking on a bottle can help equalise pressure. Children also lose heat faster than adults, so ensure warm clothing, sunglasses and sunscreen are used.
High altitude visits are not advised for people with serious heart or lung conditions, uncontrolled angina, or high cardiovascular risk. Anyone with a recent stroke or muscle disease should also avoid such trips.
Medical & Insurance
Passengers should carry any required medication in their hand
luggage, along with a copy of their prescription. It is
strongly recommended that you arrange comprehensive travel
insurance before departure to cover medical treatment,
hospitalisation, or emergency repatriation costs. Please note
that healthcare abroad can be expensive, and you may be
required to pay upfront if you are not insured.
